Today, I found myself in the heart of Birmingham City Centre, viewing a potential new apartment to add to our Pearl Property Management portfolio. As a business owner who prides herself on offering high-quality, wellness-themed serviced accommodation, I was excited about the prospect of expanding into the heart of Birmingham. But my excitement was short-lived.




From the moment I stepped into the property, I was horrified. Dust-coated surfaces, worn-out furniture, ugly furniture, cracked laminate floors, and an unpleasant odor greeted me.


To make matters worse, this property is currently being let for £100 per night! Yes, you read that right: £100 for a space that doesn’t meet even the most basic standards of cleanliness and comfort. It was a stark reminder of why so many travelers are left disappointed by their stays and how property management agents like this are letting the industry down.


The Pearl Property Standard

My standards are extremely high, and they need to be because every guest deserves an exceptional experience. That’s why when I viewed this apartment, it was clear to me that it needed a complete renovation and a deep clean before it could even be considered.


When I shared this with the agent, she looked genuinely confused. She couldn’t understand why I would want to make any changes. “It’s been letting out fine as it is,” she said, as if that was a justification for the state of the place. This interaction in itself was eye-opening. It made me realize, yet again, why companies like Pearl Property Management need to exist:

Imagine booking an apartment for a special weekend getaway, only to arrive and find it looks nothing like the photos online. Your excitement turns into disappointment, and that one poor experience tarnishes your view of serviced accommodation altogether. That’s exactly what I’m determined to prevent.

What Happens Next?


Needless to say, that property didn’t make the cut. However, it serves as a valuable reminder of why I’m so passionate about what I do. It’s not just about managing properties; it’s about creating spaces that people love to stay in and ensuring our landlords’ investments thrive through consistent bookings and glowing reviews.
